Summer style isn’t just about beachwear; it’s about so much more than that. It’s easy to make the mistake of thinking that for summer, all you need are a few t-shirts and a couple of pairs or shorts, but that’s not the case. What about accessories? What about the other essential summer items? It’s not just about what you wear when it comes to summer style either; grooming also plays an important part.
Summer style isn’t hard to get right, if you know what you’re doing, that is. To give you a helping hand, I thought I would share a few pieces of styling advice.
Swimwear shouldn’t be dull
For summer, it’s all about bright shades and bold prints. If you want to stand out, as well as look good, make an effort to find swimwear that’s interesting and eye-catching. Look out for bold, summery printed pieces, as these are ideal for adding style to your beach look. These types of designs used to be aimed more at female fashion, but today geometric and Aztec prints add style to any look. For swimwear inspiration, have a browse of what your fave celebrities are wearing. There’s nothing better than a little celebrity inspo when it comes to style.
Shirts aren’t just for dressing up
Most of us tend to reserve shirts for smart occasions, but that doesn’t have to be the case. For summer, shirts can be the perfect way to give your look a little extra style. Of course, you can’t wear a formal shirt to the beach, but you can wear a more casual alternative. Just like you would invest in a smart shirt, it’s worth doing the same with casual ones. This is because when it comes to shirts, you get what you pay for. If you want a shirt that has a nice cut and fits well, it’s important to be choosy about where you buy from. Oh and don’t forget to choose a mixture of shirt styles – some neutral some bright and bold.
Flip flops aren’t your only option
Flip flops might be comfortable for summer footwear, but they’re far from your only option. They’re not the most stylish to shoes, so even if you love your flip flops, it’s worth investing in a few other styles. That way, you’ll have shoes to go with every outfit, from beachwear to more formal summer wear. A great place to start when it comes to summer shoes is with slip ons and trainers, as these are both must-haves. Vans are a great option for this, as they have a range of different shoe styles to choose from. Loafers are also ideal for summer, as are deck shoes – Toms are fantastic.
Take grooming seriously
You may not think that grooming falls under fashion, but when it comes to summer, it does. There’s nothing worse that seeing someone on the beach who is dressed impeccably but is badly groomed. It’s not just body hair either; your hairstyle also needs to be taken into account. For summer, the shorter your hair is cut, the better. As for body and face hair, shaving and waxing are the best options. If you’ve got a beard, make sure to invest in some beard oil, to keep your beard in tip, top shape.
Summer styling doesn’t have to be hard to get right; it’s just a case of knowing what you’re doing.
